Benedek Broadcasting owns and operates over 23 network-affiliated television stations (ABC, NBC and CBS) throughout the United States. Benedek is one of the largest holders of television licenses in the United States. Benedek’s stations serve small to medium-sized markets and, in the aggregate, reach communities in 24 states. Benedek's broadcast signals reach approximately 3.9 million households and represent more than 20% of all television households in the markets above 100.

The Challenge

Benedek is actively preparing for convergence, seeking out new revenue sources and using its position in the industry to create negotiating strength. To do this, Benedek needed to launch 22 Web sites to underscore the stations’ position in the local marketplace with a strong emphasis on community features, as well as content management and syndication tools.

Outlook's Solution

Outlook analyzed the needs of Benedek’s stations and devised an end-to-end solution that would equip the individual stations properly while leveraging their unique strength in the aggregate. Outlook customized its’ CMS/Media product with a centralized backend to drive the twenty-two Web sites. This offered several benefits including: streamlined content development processes with local customizations by station, a centralized repository to manage media assets, content syndication capabilities with strong local positioning, and local or syndicate-wide advertising revenues and reporting.
